Woodworking in Latvia: From Beginner to Confident Maker

We're nexovant SIA, and we've created something real for people who want to learn woodworking the right way. No shortcuts, no confusing jargon—just practical knowledge about Baltic timber, proper tools, and projects that actually work.

How nexovant SIA Started

In 2019, we noticed something: people wanted to learn woodworking but couldn't find reliable information tailored to Latvia and the Baltic region. Everything was either too advanced or too generic.

We're focused on building a resource that actually makes sense. That means talking about the timber you can actually find in Latvia—oak, pine, birch, spruce. The tools you'll actually use in a small workshop. The projects you can really finish in a few weekends.

Safety matters to us. We've seen what happens when people skip the basics. That's why every resource we create starts with safety, covers technique, and doesn't pretend you're working in a professional shop. You're working in your space, with your tools, learning at your pace.

Since we started, we've helped hundreds of people pick up woodworking as a serious hobby. Some build cutting boards. Others tackle furniture. A few have even started small businesses. But they all started the same way—with good information and confidence that they weren't making expensive mistakes.

What We Cover

nexovant SIA has built a knowledge base that covers everything a beginner needs. We're not trying to teach you to be a master carpenter. We're teaching you to work confidently with wood.

Baltic Timber Types

Learn the differences between oak, birch, pine, and spruce. We explain grain patterns, hardness, workability, and cost so you choose the right wood for each project.

Essential Hand Tools

We break down which tools you actually need to start. Not the fancy stuff. The reliable hand tools that work, last decades, and won't drain your budget.

Basic Technique

Proper stance, grip, and form. These fundamentals prevent injuries and create better results. We've seen how technique changes everything for beginners.

Simple Projects

Start with a cutting board. Move to a small shelf. Then tackle a simple table. Projects that build skills without overwhelming you or wasting materials.

Workshop Safety

Eye protection, proper ventilation, tool handling, finishing products—safety isn't boring, it's how you keep woodworking for years without injury.

Practical Troubleshooting

What do you do when your cut isn't straight? When wood splinters? When finish looks uneven? We cover the real problems beginners face.

How We Teach

nexovant SIA doesn't believe in overcomplicating woodworking. Our approach is straightforward: start simple, build skills, and grow at your pace.

1

Understand the Fundamentals

We don't jump into projects. You'll learn about wood properties, grain direction, moisture, and how these affect your work. This foundation prevents frustration and mistakes.

2

Choose Your Tools Wisely

We guide you through tool selection step by step. You'll know exactly what you need, why you need it, and where to find quality at reasonable prices in Latvia.

3

Practice with Real Projects

Your first projects are designed to teach technique without creating stress. A cutting board teaches knife skills and finishing. A shelf teaches measurement and joinery basics.

4

Build Confidence and Skills

Each completed project builds confidence for the next one. You're not learning from theory alone—you're learning by doing, safely, with proper guidance.

What We Stand For

nexovant SIA is built on specific beliefs about woodworking education. These guide every resource we create.

Accuracy Matters

We don't guess about Baltic timber properties or tool specifications. Everything's verified through practical experience and proper research.

Safety First, Always

No shortcut advice. No "you probably don't need that." We won't compromise on safety information because injuries change people's lives.

Respect Your Budget

Woodworking doesn't require expensive equipment to start. We help you build a workshop that works with what you can actually spend.

Real Projects, Real Results

Theory is useful. But we focus on projects you can actually complete and use. That's what keeps people engaged in woodworking.
